Chef/Owner Jake Williams
Chef/Owner Jake Williams of "A Cut Above Catering" was born and raised in Louisiana where he learned the style of Creole Cooking that inspired his love of food and world cuisine. Williams moved right out of highschool to Palm Springs, CA. Once employed in the food business starting out as a dishwasher, he kept his eyes and ears open picking up tips from various chefs he worked under. Williams went to Epicurean School of Culinary Arts on Melrose Place in Los Angeles where he became a Certified Chef.
Williams started his professional career at the Sheraton Oasis, later honing his skills at the renowned Mission Hills Country Club, Cafe Expresso, and Springs Country Club. He then took center stage as he collaborated with owner Mel Haber to unveil the famous Melyvn's Ingleside Inn. There, Williams was the Chef for many stars, among them the legendary Frank Sinatra, Laverne and Shirley, and Marvin Gaye, who specifically sought out his culinary expertise.
Williams created menus instituted presenting daily specials with Homemade Sauces and Salad Dressings from recipes of his own.
Williams cooked for hundreds at a time whether it was a Wedding, Corporate Event, or a special Banquet etc....including at The Tivoli Terrace in Laguna Beach, CA. His staff and clients to this day have the utmost respect for his professionalism, integrity, and knowledge for the food industry. Not only the presentation of his delicious food they express their "LOVE AT FIRST BITE!" which happens to be the slogan for A CUT ABOVE CATERING.
